■ Thomas Beightel of Grand Junction graduated with honors May 4 from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.

■ The University of Central Oklahoma College of Education and Professional Studies awarded Fruita resident Maci Wiley a scholarship in recognition of her academic achievements and outstanding service to the university.

Wiley, a sophomore majoring in industrial safety, received the Steve Allen Endowed Scholarship.

■ Ben Shettler, a 2015 Grand Junction High School graduate, graduated May 9 from the University of Colorado–Boulder with a bachelor's degree in business administration — accounting and finance.

He was a member of Zeta Beta Tau fraternity.

■ Bryce Howe of Montrose graduated May 4 from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.

■ Area students graduated May 4 from the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio. Aaron Hermiller of Rifle received a master's degree in education, and Ceceilia Pieper of Paonia received a master's degree as a physician assistant.

■ Paula Strickland of Grand Junction graduated summa cum laude on June 2 from Elmira College in Elmira, New York.

■ Gregory Gibson of Grand Junction earned a bachelor's degree in finance and business economics, graduating summa cum laude on May 26 from the University of San Diego.

He was the 2019 valedictorian for the School of Business.

■ Cade Halvorson of Fruita and Lane Koetter of Grand Junction were named to the spring 2019 semester dean's honor list at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska.

■ Ensign Marshall Gore, a 2014 Fruita Monument High School graduate from Grand Junction, is participating in a rigorous training process that transforms officers into U.S. naval aviators. Gore is a student pilot with the "Boomers" Training Squadron (VT) 27, based in Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, Texas.

The squadron flies the T-6B Texan II aircraft.
