Two climbers make their way down from the top of Courthouse Mountain in the San Juan Range. At 12,152 feet, Courthouse is just the 1,221st highest peak in Colorado. Courthouse Mountain is an easily recognizable peak south of Owl Creek Pass. The trail up the mountain is about two miles, with an elevation gain of about 2,000 feet to the summit. Although relatively short, the trail is very steep — think Mount Garfield, but covered in a pine forest.
