The Grand Junction Coyotes took second place in their division in the Continental Divide Youth Hockey League tournament on March 3 in Gunnison. The team, which is based at Glacier Ice Arena and part of the Grand Junction Hockey Club, faced the Durango Steamers in the championship, according to Misty Mutch and Melanie Brown. The Coyotes “did a great job,” Mutch wrote, especially considering the Steamers had a much larger team and the Coyotes were down a player and coach because of illness.
