A 27-year-old Chicago man is accused of sexual assault on a child victim and received a $50,000 cash-only bond from the Mesa County Court on Monday.
Kevin Peterson was arrested at a Grand Junction hotel on Sunday after police were contacted by the victim's family, according to an affidavit for Peterson's arrest.
Surveillance footage from the hotel appears to show Peterson arrive at the hotel with the girl and then the pair leaves some time later.
According to the alleged victim's parents, the girl told them she met a person she thought was a 17-year-old from Chicago named 'Jason' that night.
Police waited for Peterson to return to the hotel and arrested him before taking him to police headquarters for an interview.
During his interview with police, Peterson — who was booked into the jail with a Rockford, Illinois, address — said he came to Grand Junction to meet a girl he met online about a month ago.
Armed man arrested
Mark Howard, 28, is accused of illegal discharge of a weapon as well as additional misdemeanor charges after being arrested by Mesa County Sheriff's Office deputies on Monday.
Deputies responded to a Grand Junction residence in the 2200 block of Rimrock Road shortly before 9:30 a.m. Monday morning where Howard reportedly barricaded himself and discharged a firearm inside before giving up and walking outside peacefully, the Sheriff's Office reports.
■ Adela Guzman, 39, is accused of drug possession and received a $50,000 cash-only bond from the Mesa County Court on Monday. Guzman was pulled over by a Colorado State Patrol trooper on Friday for following too closely behind the vehicle in front of her, according to the arrest affidavit.
During the traffic stop, a K-9 officer alerted to the presence of drugs and a search allegedly turned up 53 pounds of methamphetamine inside the vehicle she was driving.
■ Jonathan Kees, 21, and Elias McMillan, 20, are accused of drug possession and each received $3,000 cash-only bonds on Monday.
Police were dispatched to a Grand Junction hotel to remove several subjects on Saturday at 5:23 a.m., according to an arrest affidavit.
Among them were Kees and McMillan, who were found to have drugs in their possession, the affidavit said.
■ Mark Palmer, 43, is accused of drug possession and distribution charges and received a $5,000 cash-only bond on Monday.
Palmer were contacted by police on Sunday and heroin and methamphetamine allegedly was found in his vehicle as well as drug paraphernalia, according to the arrest affidavit.
■ Laquan Washington, 22, is accused of second degree assault and domestic violence and received a $5,000 personal-recognizance bond.
When police met with the alleged victim she had red marks on the left side and back of her neck and she reported being choked out, according to the arrest affidavit.
