Man charged in assault
Police were called to a reported assault just after 10:30 p.m. Thursday on the 3200 block of Main Street.
The victim told police she was afraid of the suspect, Cesar Rocha, 21.
The alleged assault began when the victim was in the bathroom that she and Rocha shared. She said she was getting out of the shower when Rocha came in and began accusing her of cheating on him, according to the arrest affidavit.
Before she could answer, he began hitting her on the face and sides. She said the strikes knocked her down and he began to kick her in the ribs, the affidavit said.
Police observed several recent abrasions on her arms and sides and bruises and swelling on her chin.
She said that when she attempted to call 911, Rocha grabbed her phone and threw it in the toilet, said the affidavit.
Rocha then allegedly grabbed a knife and cut the hair on the back of her head. Police observed it appeared there was a 2 to 4 inch difference in the back. Rocha was charged with domestic violence, felony menacing and assault in the third degree.
