Attempted home break-in

Officers responded to a report of a male trying to force entry to a home in the 1300 block of North 21st Street on Tuesday.

Neighbors reported seeing a man trying to break into a home, according to the arrest affidavit.

The suspect allegedly tried to open the front door and opened the mailbox and looked inside. He was also said to have tried to open the side door and tamper with its screen door.

One of the neighbors reportedly confronted the man as he was preparing to enter the backyard. The suspect allegedly threatened the neighbor.

Luis Colon, 42, was contacted within minutes as he matched the description of the suspect, the affidavit said. A records check showed his criminal history was more than 30 pages long.

He was uncooperative with officers and told them "the judicial system was a joke," the affidavit said.

He was charged with first-degree criminal trespass, among other charges.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

■ Brendan Foster, 18, is accused of assault and domestic violence on Tuesday.

■ Sean Pitts, 46, is accused of trespassing and criminal tampering on Wednesday.

■ Joseph Laur, 31, was cited on suspicion of DUI and drug possession on Thrusday.

■ Earnest Mills, 36, is accused of drug possession and criminal impersonation on Thursday.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office:

■ Kathryn Hoops, 31, is accused of domestic violence on Thursday.
