Man hurt in Potholes mishap
A 36-year-old man was taken to the hospital via helicopter after falling 25-30 feet into a crevice on Glade Park.
Multiple rescue crews, including the Mesa County Search and Rescue Technical Team, responded at 5:30 p.m. Friday to the accident at the Potholes near Glade Park, according to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office.
The technical team and the Grand Junction Fire Department Rescue Team used ropes to reach the injured man, before hoisting him up over the course of several hours. The man was transported to the hospital via CareFlight with major injuries, but was conscious and breathing, according to a release from the Sheriff's Office.
Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor to the accident.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office:
■ Deputies responded to an auto theft in the 500 block of W. Good Hope Circle on July 1. The vehicle was returned and the case is under investigation.
■ Deputies were dispatched to the 2300 block of Sayre Drive for a report of fraud, June 29.
■ On Thursday, July 4, deputies responded to an assault in the 3200 block of Carol Court.
