Inmate accused of escape

Joseph Rhyne, 55, is accused of walking out of the Mesa County Community Corrections facility on July 4 without staff authorization.

Rhyne was sentenced to two years of Community Corrections on March 13 for drug possession, according to the arrest affidavit.

At 8:15 a.m. on the Fourth, Rhyne allegedly exited the west staff entrance of the facility and ran north on foot through the west parking lot.

He reportedly continued through a north alley out to Pitkin Avenue heading east.

By 9:49 a.m., a formal count was conducted at the facility where Rhyne was discovered missing.

At 11:23 a.m., he returned to the facility and was taken to the Mesa County Detention Facility by the Grand Junction Police Department, the affidavit states.

He was charged with escape.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office:

■ Rebecca Nicol, 65, is accused of domestic violence-harassment on Tuesday.

■ Max Slade, 35, was cited on suspicion of child abuse on Wednesday.

■ Michael Davis, 26, was cited on suspicion of DUI in the 3200 block of Main Street on Thursday.
