Boy, 4, found wandering

A 40-year-old woman was cited Saturday morning on suspicion of child abuse, with criminal negligence, for allegedly allowing a 4-year-old in her care to wander unattended around Planet Fitness, 2401 North Ave.

Ann Caldwell was sleeping in the residence of a friend Saturday morning and agreed to watch the little boy, according to a police summons. The boy made his way to the parking and dumpster areas of the fitness club when someone intervened and alerted authorities. The child was apparently nonverbal, and wouldn't tell anyone his name or give any indication about where he belonged.

An officer recognized the child as one who had been the subject of a similar incident June 6, which led to the residence where they found Caldwell, who was asleep, but then repeatedly apologetic for forgetting about the child, according to police.
