Man held in kicking attack
A homeless man was jailed and held on a cash bond for allegedly kicking another person in the face at the local shelter Thursday morning.
Mark Burris, 53, struck a man with his foot after he attempted to hug a woman at HomewardBound, 2853 North Ave., according to an affidavit for his arrest. The alleged victim, police said, has multiple facial fractures as a result of the attack, which video shows may have been provoked by a prior altercation.
A $5,000 cash-only bond was issued in Burris' case on Monday, despite his only having one felony conviction in his lifetime, with the judge partly citing the extreme injuries of the alleged victim.
