Roxine Foster, 59, died of a gunshot wound, Mesa County Coroner Victor Yahn confirmed Thursday.
Foster was the victim in a shooting that closed a portion of I Road for several hours in the area on Wednesday as law enforcement investigated the crime scene.
The area was also designated a shelter-in-place for several hours Wednesday.
The Mesa County Sheriff's Office is overseeing what is still an active investigation, and no suspect is in custody yet.
Investigators are asking anyone in the area of the 2200 block of I Road beween 8 a.m. to 1 p.m Wednesday to contact the Mesa County Sheriff's Office with any information about the shooting.

David Russell, 21, who died after he went off the roadway in Colorado National Monument had a blood alcohol level of 0.229%, his toxicology report confirmed Thursday.
Russell was found Oct. 18, and Mesa County Coroner Victor Yahn confirmed that he died of multiple blunt force injuries after falling an estimated 500 feet into a canyon.
