Two arrested in drug case
Two people are accused of attempting to import methamphetamine into the state after a traffic stop early Thursday morning.
Police noticed a vehicle crossing onto and over the right shoulder several times between mile posts 15 and 19 on Interstate 70 before officers pulled it over at around 3 a.m. on Thursday.
The vehicle's occupants, Robert Lopez, 43, and Jennifer Jefferson, 42, consented to a search of the vehicle, an arrest affidavit said.
An officer found plastic wrapped packages inside the headliner of the vehicle, with a total of eight pounds of methamphetamine inside, according to the affidavit.
They were both cited on distribution charges. They were each given $25,000 bonds at their arraignment hearings on Thursday.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
■ Heather Guess, 44, was cited on suspicion of shoplifting items valued at less than $300 on Aug. 29.
■ Rachelle Olsen, 36, and Kylie Chambers, 20, were cited on suspicion of shoplifting in the 2500 block of Rimrock Avenue on Sunday.
■ An unknown person or persons pried open a vending machine at Mesa Mall, causing more than $5,000 in damage to the machine. The vandals also took cash out of the machine.
■ A theft of a motor vehicle was reported in the 2800 block of North Avenue on Wednesday.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office:
■ Jessica Pauls, 31, is accused of drug possession on Tuesday.
