Free legal guardianship clinic Thursday
A free legal guardianship clinic will be presented from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Mesa County Courthouse, 544 Rood Ave.
The clinic is jointly presented by local attorney Drew Moore and the 21st Judicial District Mesa County Protective Proceedings Monitor who will be on hand to help participants fill out paper work for guardianship. The clinic is for "pro se" persons seeking to obtain or understand a guardianship without the representation of an attorney.
The clinic will help provide attendees with an overview of the concepts and process involved in obtaining a guardianship whether it be for child, someone who is disabled or an elder needing a guardian. Call the Pro Bono Project of Mesa County office at 424-5748 to register.
DMV office to reopen in Clifton Monday
The Division of Motor Vehicles office in Clifton is set to reopen Monday at the same location as before in the Peach Tree Shopping Center.
The office was closed in 2016 when then-Mesa County Clerk and Recorder Sheila Reiner closed it for budgetary reasons.
New Clerk and Recorder Tina Peters said the reopened office will cost less money with the rent at $14,000, half of what the county previously paid.
Peters also said the office will have basic features including using old-style pull-tabs for waiting customers.
The office will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
