Rockfall mitigation in De Beque Canyon
The Colorado Department of Transportation will conduct additional rockfall mitigation in De Beque Canyon on Monday starting at 8:30 a.m. and will continue throughout the day with operations ending around 4 p.m.
The rockfall mitigation is near the Cameo exit at milepost 45.
Motorists should expect 20- to 30-minute closures on both lanes of Interstate 70 throughout the day while crews remove loose rock.
Should crews not complete the mitigation on Monday, they will continue operations into Tuesday. Motorists are urged to plan ahead when traveling in case of delays.
The mitigation is needed to remove loose rock identified on the ridgeline above I-70. The effort is a preventative measure to keep motorists safe from potential rockfalls.
