Offices closed Monday for King holiday
A number of offices will be closed Monday in observation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Many Mesa County offices will be closed Monday, however the holiday closure does not include the Coroner’s Office, Criminal Justice Services, Grand Valley Transit (GVT), Mesa County Landfill, or the emergency functions of the Sheriff’s Office. City of Grand Junction administrative offices will be closed Monday. The trash pickup will be on its regular schedule.
Jan. 20 is also a fee-free day at national parks, including Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park in Utah, and Colorado National Monument in Grand Junction.
‘Hands Up!’ presented at Central Library
A second presentation of “Hands Up! Old West Stagecoach, Train and Bank Robberies of Western Colorado” is set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Central Library, Mesa County Libraries, 443 N. Sixth St.
Local historian Dave Fishell will discuss infamous holdups that took place from Wolf Creek Pass to Steamboat Springs and locations in between and the notorious outlaws behind the crimes.
The free presentation is open to the public.

AgExpo planned for Feb. 1 in Rifle
The annual Ag Expo will is planned for 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Feb. 1, at the Garfield County Fairgrounds in Rifle. Bookcliff, Mount Sopris and South Side Conservation Districts, Garfield CSU Extension and Natural Resources Conservation Service have partnered to host the event.
Keynote speakers are Dr. Fred Provenza, a world-renowned expert on animal health and Mike and Erin Galloway, Wyoming ranchers who will share their family story, “Our Wyoming Life.” Other topics include tractor maintenance, hoop house gardening, how to market your produce and meat, hemp pests, veterinarians’ panel, activities at the Kids’ Corner and more.
Lunch is included with registration. Cost is $20 for an individual and $30 for couple. Online registration is available at eventbrite.com.
