High bond set in sexual assault cases
Angel Parra, 21, is accused of sexually assaulting two minors last month.
He was arraigned in court Friday, where his mother maintained his innocence.
However, the judge went with the prosecution's recommendation, who felt Parra was an extreme risk and a danger to young women in the community because of the serious allegations, and went with a $100,000 cash-only bond for Parra.
He is accused of aggressively grabbing a female minor under her clothes, according to the arrest affidavit. Another female minor accused Parra of having sex with her. Both incidents are said to have happened on the same night last month.
Parra was not allowed to be around juveniles under the age of 18 the night the alleged incident took place, per court order, for having contributed to the delinquency of a minor in the past, the affidavit states.
He is next due in court later this month.
Fire breaks out again at Connected Lakes
The Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a small brush fire at the Connected Lakes State Park boat ramp on Sunday.
A call came into dispatch at 10 a.m., and the Fire Department was on scene with a firetruck, two brush trucks and a water tender truck.
The fire was limited to less than 1 acre and crews pulled water from the lake to fight the blaze. They worked into the afternoon putting out hot spots.
The state park was also the scene of the Riverview Fire on Thursday.
The Mesa County Sheriff's Office determined that the fire was human-caused. It is still under investigation.
