Residential real estate prices continue to climb in the Grand Valley as new construction lags compared to a year ago, according to a November report from Bray Real Estate.

The year-to-date median home price for Mesa County is up to $256,000, which is a 9% bump from this time last year when the median price was $235,000. However the total number of homes sold in November was down 8% from last year. Overall, total home sales are down 4% compared to 2018.

Mesa County finished November with 682 active listings, which represents three months of inventory. In November 2018, the month ended with 702 active listings, according to the report.

In 2019, the only month that saw more active listings compared to the previous year was October, which finished with 764 active listings compared to 763 the previous year.

Homes are spending an average of 58 days on the market, one day fewer than last year while sales volume is at roughly $1 billion for 2019, according to the report.

Building permits still trail 2018 numbers with 658 permits pulled through November. In 2018, 746 permits had been pulled through November. This represents a 12% drop.

Interest rates remain low at 4% for a 30-year loan and 3.25% for a 15-year loan. Foreclosure filings and sales are down significantly from 2018. Filings are down 19%, while sales are down 33%.

n America’s Mattress Outlet Superstore is in the process of expanding its location in the Rimrock Marketplace and recently shuttered its Clifton store.

After five years, the store shuttered its Clifton location, 570 32 Road, Dec. 1 and moved the operation and staff to the store at 2531 Rimrock Ave.

“We are combining both locations,” General Manager Shawn Collazo said.

Collazzo said the company did not lose any employees with the move and the Rimrock store is as busy as ever. The store is also in the process of adding roughly 1,600 square feet to the store.

The Rimrock location has been open for roughly nine years, Collazo said. It employs four full-time sales associates and is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. For more information, visit

n Rocky Mountain Promotional Products and Apparel moved to a new location in July after remodeling the new space.

The screen-printing and embroidery business is now located at 1161 Ute Ave. It was previously located at 2495 Industrial Blvd. The new building was remodeled starting in May.
