Grand Valley residents can now buy CBD-infused products at area City Market stores.
Kroger, City Market's parent company, announced earlier this week that it would begin selling a selection of topical products such as lotions, balms, oils and creams that are infused with hemp-derived CBD.
The company joins a growing list of national organizations to add CBD products to it stores. Other companies include Walgreens, CVS, GNC and Neiman Marcus.
The products will be available in 945 Kroger-owned stores in 17 states across the country. Kroger, which is headquartered in Cincinnati, is the largest supermarket chain in the U.S.
City Market spokesperson Kelli McGannon said CBD products could be available in stores as early as today. Distribution should be complete by June 21.
The CBD products will be available at all five City Market stores in the Grand Valley and the store at 16400 S. Townsend Ave. in Montrose. Most of the products will be placed near the pharmacy, McGannon said.
"CBD is a naturally-occurring and non-intoxicating compound that has promising benefits and is permitted within federal and state regulations," a statement from Kroger on Tuesday read. "Our limited selection of hemp-derived CBD topical products is from suppliers that have been reviewed for quality and safety."
