7th and Main Streets in downtown Grand Junction

A 28-year-old man was arrested on charges of shooting a weapon in downtown Grand Junction early Sunday morning.

The Grand Junction Police Department arrested Richard Farmer after witnesses said he fired multiple gunshots into the ground near Ciara Cantina at Seventh and Main streets around 12:45 a.m.

GJPD had officers near the area and responded when they heard gunshots. Witnesses described the suspect who had left the scene.

Farmer was located nearby and a gun was found in the vehicle Farmer was riding in. He was arrested on multiple charges, including menacing with a weapon, illegally possessing a concealed firearm among other charges.

No injuries were reported in the shooting.

Farmer was booked into the Mesa County Detention Center.
