A man shot by a police officer was released from the hospital on Thursday and was immediately taken into custody and is being held at the Mesa County Jail.
Victor Jackson, 30, is charged with a total of 11 felonies, including two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of menacing with a deadly weapon, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office said. He is being held on a $1 million cash bond.
He was recovering from injuries stemming from an altercation with police in early February.
The Grand Junction Police Department identified Zach Diaz as the patrol officer who fired his weapon in the incident on Feb. 2.
Diaz is on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of the department’s internal investigation.
Delta high-speed chase ends with spike strips
A 30-minute vehicle chase ended in a City Market parking lot in Delta after “stop sticks” were successfully deployed, according to the Delta Police Department.
The driver, identified as Zachary David Bayhan, 22, of Delta, was arrested on multiple warrants and additional charges including traffic infractions, felony drug possession and more.
Bayhan is being held at the Delta County Detention Facility on four additional warrants with a total of $49,500 in bonds, Delta police said.
