A large number of college graduates get their degree and go on their way. They dive deep into the job search, settle into a career and never look back. Time moves on, as it always does, and that vibrant college world they were once a part of fades away. But that world can be brought back into focus in a new way — by joining the team at Colorado Mesa University or Western Colorado Community College.
There is a place for everyone on campus — from young professionals looking to gain experience and build a foundation to seasoned career professionals. CMU and WCCC faculty are complemented by teams of dynamic, driven individuals who provide student support and operational expertise in areas such as marketing, finance, human resources, facilities, information technology and more. Together, faculty and staff members keep the institution running, growing and on the forefront of higher education.
What started as Grand Junction Junior College in 1925 with 39 students has evolved into a bustling university with 11,000 students from 46 states and 39 countries. During the last 94 years, CMU has established a legacy and reputation for preparing tomorrow’s leaders. This legacy, in part, was built by dedicated faculty and staff.
From 2006 to 2016, CMU was the fifth fastest growing baccalaureate institution in the U.S., according to The Chronicle of Higher Education, and with three campuses (Main Campus, Montrose Campus and Bishop Campus) it’s easy to understand the need to employ a large number of talented professionals. Colorado Mesa University also ranks as one of the largest employers in Grand Junction and the Western Slope. CMU employs approximately 750 full-time and about 300 part-time employees, and currently has 15 full-time and 25 part-time positions that need to be filled.
CMU and WCCC are collaborative communities that offer ample opportunities for personal and professional growth. They also offer an outstanding benefits package for full-time employees, including retirement benefits; medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and annual paid vacation, sick and discretionary leave.
Those who work at CMU and WCCC are exposed to enriching experiences and exciting challenges. It’s a place where diversity is celebrated, exploration is possible and youthful exuberance is around every corner.
Staff and faculty have the power to positively impact the lives of thousands of young adults — being a part of higher education means helping students succeed in a complex and interconnected world. Employees at Colorado Mesa University and Western Colorado Community College help students find their passion and their place in today’s world. Be a part of something bigger, be a part of CMU and WCCC.
