Former Fruita Monument High School baseball coach Gary Thomas will be inducted into the Colorado Dugout Club Coaches Association Hall of Fame next year.
Thomas, who coached the Wildcats from 1972-1988 and won more than 300 games and 10 conference titles, is part of the 2023 Hall of Fame class, which will be honored Jan. 14 at the Highlands Masonic Center in Denver.
The baseball field at Fruita Monument is named for Thomas, who died in 2016.
Also going into the Hall of Fame are Dean Adams, who coached at Hinkley, Grandview and Rock Canyon high schools, longtime umpires Leo Bahl and Keith Bailey, former Metro State coach Bill Helman, former CSU Pueblo coach Stan Sanchez, Joe Stemo, who coached at Bennett High School, and Bruch Vaughn, who coached at George Washington, Smoky Hill and Regis Jesuit as well as Regis University and the University of Northern Colorado.
