Gene Taylor's 16-U finishes  second in Legion B state tourney

Gene Taylor's 16-under team made it to the state championship against Jefferson Academy after a 7-0 win over Rocky Mountain early Sunday, but the team fell 9-6 later in the day in Fort Collins to finish second in the Legion B state tournament.

Gene Taylor's fell despite out-hitting the Jaguars 12-5.

Ryder Mancuso started the game for Gene Taylor's. He went five innings, allowing three runs despite allowing zero hits and striking out three batters.

The game was tied at 4-4 in the seventh inning when Jefferson Academy took the lead for good on a Stanley Baldwin RBI single.

Volunteers needed for work  on Grand Mesa trails

Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Trail Association and the local Forest Service will work on several trails Saturday and Sunday on Grand Mesa.

Some of the trails to be worked on are Mesa Top, West Bench and Crane Lake.
