Two Mavericks nab RMAC honors

Holly Schmidt had an outstanding week for the Colorado Mesa volleyball team in her final regular-season home matches, and on Monday was selected the RMAC offensive player of the week.

A redshirt junior outside hitter, Schmidt has decided to forego her fifth year of eligibility to focus on school, and recorded a season-high 18 kills against Westminster and 13 more against Regis. She hit .316 in the two matches, which secured the Mavericks (20-5) a first-round home match against Colorado Christian at 7 tonight in the RMAC Tournament.

Redshirt freshman Sabrina VanDeList was voted the setter of the week for the third time this season after dishing out 120 assists, with 35 digs and four aces last weekend. In the win against No. 23 Regis, VanDeList had 57 assists, which came after recording 63 against Westminster, the most assists in a single match by any CMU player in the past five seasons.
