The Fruita Monument girls basketball team bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 47-36 victory over Greeley West in the Greeley Invitational on Saturday.
Callie Allen led the Wildcats (9-1) with 14 points and Kylie Wells added eight. Kloe Bates made two 3-pointers.
Fruita trailed Greeley West (5-3) 7-6 after the first quarter but pulled away for good with an 18-5 second quarter.
Grand Junction 49, Pueblo Central 32: Faith Buckley scored 18 points and Dolcie Hanlon added 14 as the Tigers won their second consecutive game at the Falcon Tournament near Colorado Springs.
Grand Junction is 3-7 after defeating the Wildcats (4-8).
Montrose 42, Palisade 11: The Indians (8-1) used a dominant defense to shut down the Bulldogs (1-7) at the Black Canyon Classic in Montrose. Montrose has won six consecutive games.
Three Central players reached double figures as the Warriors defeated Pueblo Centennial 62-50 in the Pueblo East Tournament.
Jorge Bolanos scored 16 points, Gavin Myers added 14 and Nathan Ramos chipped in 12. Ramos hit nine of his 12 free-throw attempts.
The Warriors improved to 2-7 with their second win in four games.
Montrose 38, Palisade 37: The Indians (6-3) edged the Bulldogs (4-5) in the Black Canyon Classic in Montrose.
Watts Erb scored 13 points and Kevin Loya added 11 for Palisade.
Fort Collins 56, Fruita Monument 55: The Wildcats (5-4) lost their second straight game at the Greeley Invitational.
Marcus LaBonde led Fruita with 19 points. Dillon Keithley scored 11 points with three 3-pointers. Cole Savage added 10 points.
Fountain-Fort Carson 97, Grand Junction 65: Blaine Butler exploded for 41 points for the Tigers (1-8), but Grand Junction couldn’t keep pace with the Trojans (6-4) in the Columbine Tournament.
Butler made five shots from beyond the arc and made 10 of 16 from the free-throw line.
