Tuesday in a close loss to Delta, the Central High School girls basketball team was outscored 10-0 to start the game.
Thursday against Rifle, the host Warriors (7-4) were the ones starting fast.
Led by seven points each by Leah Redding and Mya Murdock, Central raced out to a 19-0 lead before the Bears scored and the Warriors finished the first quarter with a 21-1 lead.
Central led 35-11 at halftime and 47-20 after three quarters, which allowed the starters to get some rest and the bench players to get some playing time.
Redding and Murdock each scored 11 points to lead the Warriors and Anika Flores added seven, including two 3-pointers.
Mackenzie Elizardo scored 12 points and Jamie Caron added 10 for the Bears (1-6).
Central’s Jorge Bolanos scored seven points and Jayden Maes added six in the first quarter of the Warriors’ 46-38 victory at Rifle.
Maes finished with 12 points — all on 3-pointers — and Bolanos added 11 for Central (4-8).
The Warriors started strong, outscoring the Bears 20-6 in the first quarter, on their way to their second straight win.
Railin Manchester and Triston Nostrand each added eight points for Central.
Trey Lujan led the Bears (5-3) with 10 points.
