The Palisade High School softball team scored eight runs in the fourth inning to end Tuesday's game with Delta by the run rule, 17-5.

Melissa Carroll had four RBI for the Bulldogs (5-4), Jordan Bauer had three RBI, and Taylor Mosby and Cassie Bittner both were 3 for 3 in the win.

Bittner and Jentrie Bronson both had two RBI for Palisade.

Central was leading Grand Junction 6-0 after three innings at Bergman Field when rain forced the game to be postponed. The Warriors and Tigers will complete the game on Oct. 8 beginning at 5:30 p.m. After the suspended game is complete, the teams will play a second game.

Fruita Monument (5-2, 3-0 Southwestern League) scored five runs in the first and third innings and eight in the second inning to defeat Montrose 18-3 by the run rule.

Volleyball: Montrose defeated Palisade 25-19, 24-26, 25-21, 18-25, 15-10. Caylee Chutka led the Bulldogs (3-4) with 19 kills and added seven aces. Cassie Miller had 21 assists, Magdalena Latek contributed 21 digs and Kendyl MacAskill had four solo blocks and three block assists for Palisade. Glenwood Springs defeated Grand Junction 25-11, 20-25, 25-9, 25-19.
