Caleb Davis' complete game leads Central to win in Phoenix tourney
Caleb Davis tossed a complete-game two-hitter on Wednesday to lead Central to a 9-0 victory over Ironwood, Arizona in the Coach Bob National Invitational in Phoenix.
Davis threw 99 pitches, walked one and struck out five as the Warriors (5-3), improved to 1-1 in the tournament.
Central scored three runs in the first inning, giving Davis all the cushion he would need.
Henry Reeves was 2 for 3 with three RBI, Kaden Spence was 2 for 4 with two RBI and Riley Roper had a triple and two RBI. Paul Salazar scored three runs and Ryan Kirby was 2 for 4, including a double, and scored two runs.
Basha, Arizona 5, Grand Junction 4: The Tigers scored two runs in the seventh inning, but could never push the equalizer across in a loss in the Coach Bob National Invitational.
Four errors hurt Grand Junction, as all the Bears' runs were unearned. Derek Shaver pitched all six innings, allowing six hits, walking two and striking out four.
Jared Hanks had three of the Tigers' six hits, including a double, and had two RBI. Christian Hafey was 1 for 3 with two RBI.
