Palisade rallies for victory

After allowing three runs in the first inning Wednesday at Suplizio Field, Jack Mohler shut down Air Academy to lead Palisade to a 7-3 victory.

Jack Mohler and the Palisade High School baseball team got off to a choppy start Wednesday against Air Academy, but the Bulldogs finished strong.

Mohler and the Bulldogs gave up three runs in the first inning but rallied for a 7-3 victory at Suplizio Field.

Mohler pitched 6 2/3 innings, gave up three hits, four walks and struck out three to get the win for the Palisade (3-5).

Stevie Reynolds got a strikeout for the final out.

The Bulldogs scored one run in the second and tied the game with a two-run third. Palisade then scored four runs in the fourth to push the lead to 7-3.

Reynolds went 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI. Elijah Swank had a hit, two RBI and a stolen base for the Bulldogs.

After giving up three runs in the first, Palisade shut down the Kadets for the rest of the game.

Palisade had nine hits, with Luke Sorensen going 3 for 3 in the win.

The victory snapped a two-game losing streak.

The Bulldogs jump into Class 4A Western Slope League play with a doubleheader against Summit on Saturday. The games will be at Palisade High School beginning at 11 a.m.
